According to a renowned leaker, Google's next mid-range smartphone will be even larger than they previously reported. As a result, the Google Pixel 9a could be noticeably bigger than the outgoing Pixel 8a when it lands in early 2025.

@OnLeaks has shared new details about the Pixel 9a, which is reputed to be Google's next mid-range smartphone. While the device should replace the Pixel 8a (curr. $499 on Amazon), it will differ from its predecessor in a few areas.

Based on recent leaks, the Pixel 9a is reported to sport a redesigned rear with a different camera design. As the image above and below shows, the device practically lacks any camera housing to speak of. However, this redesign is said to come at the cost of a larger overall device. According to @OnLeaks, the Pixel 9a will be marginally larger than he previously expected too.

Reportedly, the device will actually measure 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm, which is taller, wider and thicker than the leaker's prior claim. As a result, the Pixel 9a could well be 2.6 mm taller and 0.5 mm wider than the Pixel 8a while being just as thick at 8.9 mm. With that being said, the seemingly non-existent camera housing will still be 0.5 mm thick. Currently, the Pixel 9a is expected to land in March 2025, which would be two months shy of its predecessor's anniversary.
