The Pixel 9 Pro Fold Google's latest foldable smartphone, and seems to be one that has made strides in terms of internal design despite being only a second-gen product, according to a new teardown video. Then again, the new top-end flagship has some of the same drawbacks as its non-foldable counterpart in this regard.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL passed its JerryRigEverything ordeal with flying colors, yet started to falter when it came to testing its reparability. However, it seems the same is mostly not true of its new foldable equivalent.

The 9 Pro Fold has yet to join its $1,779 predecessor, Google's inaugural Pixel Fold, on Amazon. However, the newer device is the one more worthy of that price-tag, according to online teardown expert Phone Repair Guru.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold seemed relatively amenable to having its rear panel and main Actua Flex OLED display removed - albeit with extra caution in terms of the latter: a lesson learned from the fate of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 during one of its own teardowns, perhaps.

On that note, JerryRigEverything host Zach Nelson had to completely destroy the Pixel Fold in order to get the battery out, whereas its successor kept working after and even during the teardown. Interestingly, Phone Repair Guru demonstrated that it was able to switch on even when only 1 of its 2 batteries were connected.

Then again, those same batteries proved some of the most difficult parts to remove due to the lack of proper pull-tabs: something that can also be said of the more conventional 9 Pro XL.
