Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro found to have repair-friendly design in new teardown
With their series-first stems and integrated LED Blade Lights, the Galaxy Buds3 Pro have been roundly slated as having turned into "Samsung's AirPods" even before their official Unpacked debut. However, it now seems the South Korean giant might have had reasons besides following trends when developing their new flagship audio peripherals.
The Galaxy Buds3 Pro case is "extremely easy" to disassemble, exposing a "beautiful" internal design with relatively ample access to its 500mAh battery and charging contacts, as demonstrated in the latest Phone Repair Guru video.
The Canadian vlogger also found that the buds themselves can be taken apart using the same equipment (an adorable little custom earbud vice you can actually buy on Amazon and a heat-gun) one might use to tear some AirPods down. Therefore, it might be possible to avoid simply throwing a pair of Buds3 Pro away in the event of a dead battery.
All in all, it seems have actually been re-designed so as to be more compliant with new or upcoming pro-independent repair legislation. That might also explain why some early-adopter units in the wild are reported to have more noticeable seams and less of a polished finish as of late.
Then again, it seems the OEM could have done even better in this respect, with a Buds3 Pro case USB-C port that is still soldered to its main board whereas that of the AirPods Pro is not.
