Huawei: Will the Huawei Mate 9 feature OIS on both of its dual Leica lenses?
Even though the Huawei Mate 9 is still a few weeks or even months away from release rumors abound about what special features Huawei might add to it. We already heard whispers that the Mate 9 might feature a dual camera setup similar to the P9-series. However, it looks like Huawei might add a bit of extra punch to that setup. Apparently, both of the two lenses on the back will feature optical image stabilization (OIS), a first in the industry so far. Contrary to the Apple solution in the next iPhone 7 Plus, Huawei might stick to the separate color and black-and-white setup though, which premiered on the P9 this year.
Contrary to the dual lenses on the Honor 8, that was released recently, the cameras will likely feature a premium Leica branding again. Apart from that, we might see the Kirin 960 processor on the Mate 9, an update to the current Kirin 955 and Kirin 950 chips that Huawei put into almost every other high end smartphone this year. Huawei is also rumored to join the fast charging crowd this year with the release of a propriertary fast charging method called SuperCharge. The Mate 9 should be among the first Huawei smartphones to benefit from that technology.
Obviously, Android 7 might be a good OS-candidate for the new flagship phone, together with Huawei's EMUI 5 skin, however it remains to be seen, if Huawei will release the phone together with the new Android version or stick to Android 6 for the initial release. So far there is no definite release date in sight. Going by its predecessor, the Mate 8, we might even have to wait till late November or early December.
