Reviews for the Huawei P40 Pro Plus

80% Huawei P40 Pro+ review: Five times the camera, 100 times the zoom
Source: Hardware Zone English
With all that said, we'd also like to reiterate that the P40 Pro+ clearly meets the mark as a premium flagship device, which is further bolstered by the tremendous effort Huawei put into developing HMS and AppGallery. It's really shaping up properly with visible thoughtfulness and consideration. There truly is a plethora of local-specific apps in Huawei's app store for all your core daily living needs, and it's still growing even as we publish this review. I could also sideload my preferred Android gaming and messaging apps, and it's easier now with the inclusion of Petal Search. Pair it with the excellent camera package, strong performance and massive storage capacity, and the Huawei P40 Pro+ can still be a premium flagship winner in your eyes.

The P40 Pro+'s cameras are sensational but unless you can live without Google - something that's harder than it first seems - then Huawei's latest is a non-starter.

First announced back in March 2020 alongside the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro, the diamond of Huawei’s flagship series, the P40 Pro+, is finally ready for it grand debut. And as Huawei’s crown jewel in its P series, it also represents the best of smartphone photography.

70% Huawei P40 Pro Plus review
Source: Techradar English
If you’re picking the P40 Pro Plus up, it’ll be for that camera, and specifically, the 10x zoom, 240mm equivalent telephoto lens. Virtually everything else about it is almost identical to the significantly cheaper P40 Pro - from the great design, screen, and main camera, through to the software limitations that result from no Google services. If you’re a Huawei fan and you aren’t swimming in cash, definitely get the P40 Pro. That said, the Pro Plus is the new best-in-class smartphone camera to beat.

The P40 Pro Plus is a beautiful, premium phone with the best smartphone camera system money can buy, but it’s far from perfect. No Google means daily software stumbling blocks, even with Huawei’s handy new Petal Search. This makes it tough to justify with such a high asking price in the Western market. Still, it’s 10x zoom camera smashes through the optical zoom ceiling with a 260mm focal length, that easily outclasses the S20 Ultra.

Huawei P40 Pro Plus camera review: Zooming into the future
Source: Android Central English
Next year, other big names in Android, like Samsung and Oppo, are sure to develop their own versions of optical 10X zoom in a phone. But in the Huawei P40 Pro Plus, it's here today — though with a somewhat eye-watering price tag attached. The versatility on offer in this phone's camera system just can't be matched, and likely won't be matched until 2021.

90% Huawei P40 Pro+ review
Source: GSM Arena English
At the end of this review we find ourselves liking the Huawei P40 Pro+ a lot. And it is not because of one feature, but for the whole package. Its ceramic design is something easily likable for the added sturdiness and premium touch, the OLED screen is great, and the camera has so much to offer that we keep discovering new modes or ideas for photoshoots every day. And they usually are saved at top quality. Our point is, the P40 Pro+ will not disappoint, you just need to be ready to let go of Google.

80% Huawei P40 Pro Plus 5G review, the zoom champion
Source: Phone Arena English
Overall, the P40 Pro+ is an excellent flagship device that is ahead of its time in several key areas but the record-breaking hardware comes with a hefty price tag of way more than a grand, and you have to jump through hoops to make some apps and services work. Still, where Huawei goes plenty of its competitors follow, so we hope that the P40 Pro+ trailblazer will initiate a space war that can only benefit the end user.

60% Huawei P40 Pro Plus review: a top-tier flagship phone with an app problem
Source: T3 English
The Huawei P40 Pro Plus gets top marks in a number of areas – design, battery life, and especially the camera – but these phones are still held back by a poor app selection. The phone will cost you a lot too, so you might prefer the standard Huawei P40 Pro instead.

78% Huawei P40 Pro Plus review: True innovation in a stunted ecosystem
Source: Android Authority English
As with almost any new Huawei phone, the lack of Google Play Services makes it incredibly difficult to recommend. Smartphones are portals to apps and services more than anything. With that access restricted, it makes the experience of using a Huawei device incredibly frustrating. Even if you don’t use Google apps very often, the Google Play store is the best way to get most popular apps you would normally use. Until AppGallery can match the Google Play Store in selection, you’re going to be missing some of the core experiences offered to most other Android phones.

Huawei P40 Pro Plus: A Nokia Lumia For 2020 [Camera Tour]
Source: MrMobile English
Over the past few years, Huawei has kind of stepped into Nokia’s old spot in the smartphone photography space, by recruiting some of the imaging pioneers from Nokia … by partnering with famed photography brand Leica … and by applying good old-fashioned R&D to produce some stunning phone cameras. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus is the latest evolution of that legacy – so I took it on a road trip from Brooklyn to the boonies … and along the way, this collection of cameras captured my heart. But unless you’re a phone-tweaking geek like me, you’ll probably find that no optical achievement is worth the compromises this phone carries. To see why, join me for MrMobile's Huawei P40 Pro Plus camera review!

Hands-on: Removing photobombers and reflections with the Huawei P40 series
Source: Hardware Zone English
These software features are presently available out-of-the-box when you purchase a Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, or Huawei P40 Pro+ smartphone. They are a part of the EMUI 10.1 software update, so older Huawei phone models such as the P30 or Mate 30 might have the opportunity to use it after updating their devices. However, Huawei is unable to confirm if older models are fully compatible with AI Remove Passerby or AI Remove Reflection.

Huawei Announces P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro+: A New Generation of Cameras
Source: AnandTech English
It’s been a year now since Huawei had launched its successful P30 series smartphones, and a lot has happened since then. Following a trade-war between the United States and China, Huawei ended up being sanctioned, with the most notable effect being that the company no longer has access to Google’s services. Last autumn, we saw the launch of the Mate 30 series, the company’s first flagship phone to ship without GMS. We had argued that those phones lacked sufficient hardware differentiation to be able to make up for the lack of Google’s services, and it would be some time before we would see Huawei’s own HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) mature to a state that represents it being a valid every-day alternative. That goal is inching ever closer as Huawei spends large resources and efforts to get developers onboard its own ecosystem.

Huawei P40 Pro+ first look: Zooming above it all

The P30 and P30 Pro were both superb handsets with extraordinary camera technology, but they both hit the shops before Donald Trump's cumbersome blacklist. Huawei is now launching smartphones into a market disrupted by COVID-19 and doing so without Google apps.

ARM Mali-G76 MP16: Integrated graphics card based on the second generation of the Bifrost architecture. Uses 16 of the 20 possible clusters and according to ARM offers twice the performance per cluster than the old Mali-G72. It is used in the Kirin 990 5G and according to Huawei should be about 6% faster and 20% more efficient than a Adreno 640 in a Snapdragon 855.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Kirin 990 5G: ARM based octa-core SoC with 2x Cortex-A76 up to 2.86 GHz (performance), 2x A76 with up to 2.36 (balance) and 4x Cortex-A53 with up to 1.95 GHz (power saving). Integrates a neural processor (2+1 cores), a ARM Mali-G76 MP16 GPU at up to 700 MHz and a Balong 5G modem. Compared to the 4G version, the 5G 990 is slightly higher clocked (2 of the 3 clusters and the GPU). The SoC is manufactured in 7nm at TSMC.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

6.58":

Only a few smartphones have larger screens.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

0.226 kg:

This weight is typical for smartphones.

Huawei: Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese company founded in 1987 with focus on telecommunications hardware and 170000 employees. In the first quarter of 2016, Huawei had a market share of 8.2% in the smartphone market, making it the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Compared to the same quarter of 2015, Huawei increased its market share by more than 58%.
In 2014, Huawei created the sub brand Honor and offers certain smartphone series under this name. The name Huawei is usually not listed for these products.
There are a lot of reviews on Huawei phones with slightly above average ratings (as of 2016).

78.73%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
