Pros
Cons
The Huawei Mate X7 is a premium foldable phone built around an 8-inch OLED inner display and a 6.49-inch 120Hz cover screen, aiming to feel like a mature, everyday device rather than a novelty. Reviews praise its thin, lightweight build, luxury styling, and improved durability, including strong water and dust resistance ratings. Battery life stands out thanks to a 5525 mAh silicon-carbon cell, with both fast and wireless charging support. The camera system is widely regarded as a highlight, delivering excellent main-camera results and better low-light performance than its predecessor, though white balance and telephoto low-light can be inconsistent. Performance is described as improved but constrained by the platform, with potential thermal pressure in a thin chassis under heavier loads. Outside China, the biggest drawback remains software ecosystem limitations, compounded by the absence of Google services, alongside a high starting price around 2099 EUR.

Reviews for the Huawei Mate X7
The Huawei Mate X7 is just over 4 mm thin and aims to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Honor Magic V6, not only with its new HiSilicon Kirin 9030 Pro but also with its large Ultra Lighting HDR camera. Read Notebookcheck’s review to find out whether that is enough to offset the lack of the Google Play Store.. Update: Sample photos and gaming test added

Wrapping this review up, the HUAWEI Mate X7 definitely deserves a place on the high end of the foldable display smartphone spectrum and can serve as a good template for what foldables should be in 2026. As a global HUAWEI device in 2026, much of the software issues from almost a decade ago have been solved but some bugs still remain.Luckily, despite that it’s not exactly what the Mate X7 focuses on.It focuses on durability, camera performance, large-screen productivity, and dependable battery life rather than chasing novelty. By addressing these long-standing foldable pain points, HUAWEI delivers a device that feels genuinely usable as a daily driver. If you’re looking for a foldable that prioritizes confidence, practicality, and real-world usability, without sacrificing flagship-level camera quality, the HUAWEI Mate X7 stands out as one of the most well-rounded foldables available today.

This is a beautiful device from Huawei, which I’ve been saying for years. Huawei has never had issues with its hardware. They’ve always made well-built devices; their problem is the US. And because the US has blocked them from working with some key partners – like ARM – it makes the Huawei Mate X7 a hard sell. I do love this device, but the lackluster performance and older software make me really question whether I should recommend this device. Seeing as this is a nearly $2,500 USD foldable, making it more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and almost as much as the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.

Huawei gets plenty right with its latest Mate X7 foldable — the cameras and the sleek design — but it comes with several notable downsides. As result, I wouldn't recommend this foldable for most users, not when competitors offer similar features and performance. At S$2,398, the Huawei Mate X7 isn't that cheap, either. Let's get the biggest drawback out of the way: The Huawei Mate X7 is a 4G phone. It may not matter to some users, but in Singapore where 5G coverage is pretty comprehensive, and not that expensive, it seems silly not to have a 5G plan, especially if you're already paying such a high price for a smartphone.

Living with the Huawei Mate X7 feels less like adapting to the future and more like finally arriving there. The device doesn’t ask for patience. It doesn’t demand care. It doesn’t rely on novelty to justify itself. It works. That may be the most meaningful evolution in foldable design so far. It earns trust by disappearing into daily life and only reminding you it’s special when you need more space, more light, or more time. That’s what a finished product feels like. In that sense, the Mate X7 feels less like the next foldable and more like the first one that understands what it’s supposed to be.

The Huawei Mate X7 has a lot going for it, that much is certain. Huawei is not allowed to use Google service and Qualcomm chips, so it’s focusing its efforts in other areas in a bid to impress customers. And it works. The Mate X7 comes with great battery life (courtesy of its giant battery), improved performance, and great durability for a foldable phone. The design is just as stylish as before, with a touch of luxury.

We really enjoyed our time with the Huawei Mate X7 - we loved the leather-like back, the thin profile, and the two great screens. Battery life and charging speed turned out solid, too. The camera department was also one of the phone's highlights. The primary camera on the Mate X7 offers excellent photos and videos, and notably better performance in low-light conditions compared to the Mate X6. We only wish the white balance were a bit more consistent and that the telephoto cam's low-light performance could be optimized a bit more. The Kirin 9030 is extracting as much performance as possible from its fabrication process. However, on a constrained node and with limited architectural headroom, any performance gains will come at the expense of higher power draw, and that's pushing the thermal limits of a thin smartphone chassis.

With the Mate X7, Huawei proves that it can hold the top spot in the foldable market in China, and it also has the chance to capture the attention of many other buyers worldwide looking for a new foldable device. The Mate X7 shapes up to be a solid all-rounder in the world of foldables, having solid displays, exceptional durability, lightweight and thin design, potent camera setup and snappy charging. Still, it's hard to fight against the Android-reigning competition outside of China, and the obvious HarmonyOS limitations are holding back Huawei's otherwise excellent flagship phones. Sure, HarmonyOS made some significant strides over the past few years, but it still has a long way to go.

The Huawei Mate X7 brings a thinner, ligher design, along with a new Kirin chip and a main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor. The Mate X7 is also rated IP58 and IP59 for water and dust resistance rating. In terms of hardware, this is one of the best foldable phones around. On the software front, the Mate X7 runs Huawei's EMUI on this global version.

The Huawei Mate X7 Collector's Edition is finally here, and honestly, the foldable game just got a lot more interesting. We’re looking at the Collector's Edition today, and my first impression? It is wildly thin and light. But is it actually durable enough for daily use, and can that camera really beat the iPhone 17 Pro Max? In this review, I’m breaking down everything you need to know about the Mate X7 Huawei Mate X7 Collector's Edition. We’re testing the new "Red Maple" camera system (the night shots are insane!), checking out the new hinge durability, and diving deep into the AI features that actually make life easier.Plus, we need to talk about HarmonyOS.

The Huawei Mate X7, announced on November 25, 2025, and released a day later, is a premium foldable aimed at users who want a mix of durability, performance, and modern design. It has a strong aerospace-grade aluminum frame and a glass front, with either nylon fiber or eco-leather on the back. Despite being a foldable, Huawei has added an impressive IP58/IP59 rating, giving protection against dust, water jets, and immersion. The main 8-inch LTPO OLED foldable display looks bright and vivid with 1B colors, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR Vivid, and a peak of 2500 nits. The outer 6.49-inch LTPO OLED cover screen is even brighter at 3000 nits and comes protected with Kunlun Glass 2. At about 235g, it feels solid but not overly heavy for a foldable device.

Qualcomm Maleoon 935: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets, integrated in the HiSilicon Kirin 9020. Unfortunately, Huawei does not provide any detailed information. What is certain is that it does not support hardware-based ray tracing and only the older Vulkan 1.0 standard.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
