Honor's line of tablets is a sizeable one with multiple lines made up of the digital (number) series, the X series, the V series, the GT series, and the MagicPad series. However, that might change as a top executive believes they are too many and should be trimmed.
According to a Weibo post by Lin Lin, the VP of Honor China, Honor has too many tablets and they should be reduced. The post was a quoted response to another post showing the manufacturer's current tablet lineup and how the models differ.
This year alone, Honor has announced five tablets including the newly released Honor Pad GT2 Pro. Also, there are reports it is developing a compact tablet that will take on rivals such as the Redmi K Pad and RedMagic Astra (available on Amazon for $699). There's also the possibility there might be more models planned for release this year considering the V series hasn't been refreshed for 2025, and Honor doesn't stick to a yearly release.
In a separate post, Lin Lin shared some comments suggesting which series should be discontinued or merged. One Weibo user suggested keeping just the MagicPad and GT lines, and condensing the other lines into a single mid-range line. The MagicPad tablets can cater to business and enterprise users while the GT line can serve those who want a high performance tablet. The new mid-range series can target those who want an affordable tablet for leisure. However, despite all the suggestions, Lin Lin seems to be dissatisfied as he said none of them ‘analyzes the target customer and user requirements’.
Nevertheless, while a more streamlined series is a welcome idea, Honor may also want to consider sticking to a cyclical release for its products and adopting a less-confusing naming scheme. A perfect example is the Honor Pad series. In July 2023, Honor launched the Honor Pad X8 Pro in China, and then in the same month, the same tablet arrived in Europe and India as the Honor Pad X9.
