Honor has released the Play 8T in China, where it starts at CNY 1,099 (~US$151) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. While the handset has a modern design, it also has a comparatively plain one at that with flat sides, unequal bezels and pronounced camera housings. Still, Honor has created two eye-catching colour options, as well as a standard black finish.
According to Honor's product page, it has based the Play 8T around a 6.8-inch IPS display that outputs at 1080p with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the company includes a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chipset, which combines two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores with six more economical Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and 2.0 GHz, respectively. Meanwhile, a 6,000 mAh battery underpins proceedings, which the device can recharge at up to 35 W via its USB Type-C port.
Moreover, the Play 8T has a 50 MP primary camera, plus an 8 MP front-facing sensor, a 2 MP depth camera and an LED flash. For reference, Honor pre-installs MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13, with Android 14 escaping the new mid-range smartphone. The company has not confirmed global availability yet either, although the handset is already available in China with an optional 12 GB RAM variant for CNY 1,299 (~US$178).
