Honor 700 Pro may feature a Xiaomi-like rear display

Xiaomi popularized the concept of having a rear screen on a phone with the launch of the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max last year. They are also getting ready to launch the Xiaomi 18 Pro series and will apparently keep the rear display. Well, Honor seems to have been inspired and is rumored to be working on a similar design for its upcoming Honor 700 series.

According to a new leak from prominent tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Honor is actively developing a smartphone, likely the Honor 700 Pro, that features a built-in 1.72-inch secondary display on its rear panel. This marks a significant shift from Honor's previous experiments. While the older Honor 600 series offered a magnetic mini-display accessory, the Honor 700 Pro will reportedly integrate the screen directly into the phone's chassis. The exact placement of this new 1.72-inch display remains unconfirmed; it could sit alongside the camera island, mimicking the aesthetic of Xiaomi's recent Pro models, or it could be positioned lower on the back of the device.

The primary advantage of this rear display will likely be its integration with the phone's rumored 200MP main camera. Having a screen on the back would allow users to leverage the massive sensor for high-quality selfies and vlogging with a real-time live preview. Beyond camera functionalities, the secondary screen could potentially serve as a hub for quick widgets, notifications, and media controls.

On the front, the Honor 700 Pro is expected to use a flat design, departing from the curved edges of past generations. The leak suggests the device will sport a 6.57-inch flat display with a “1.5K” resolution, framed by ultra-narrow and symmetrical bezels on all four sides.

Most of the other specs are still under wraps, but we should get more information as the launch date nears. Based on the company's traditional release cycles, the Honor 700 series is expected to make its official debut in China around November or December.
