Hogwarts Legacy meets Stardew Valley: New magic-school game climbs wishlist charts on Steam

Hogwarts Legacy 2 has already been officially confirmed, but a release before 2027 seems unlikely. Fortunately, Steam users won't have to wait that long for another magical adventure. Witchbrook – a cozy blend of RPG and life sim centered around life at a magic school – is already waiting in the wings.
Between magic classes and running your own witch business
Like Hogwarts Legacy, players step into the shoes of an aspiring witch or wizard and attend classes in a variety of magical disciplines. Lessons include potion brewing, astrology, divination and arcane rituals. Completing assignments and passing exams expands your magical knowledge while unlocking new spells and additional areas of the coastal town of Mossport. With its charming pixel-art style, Witchbrook immediately brings Stardew Valley to mind, and its gameplay seems to embrace a similarly cozy atmosphere. Once classes are over, it's time to run your own witch business – after all, magic school doesn't pay for itself.

Players can craft potions, salves and other magical items before selling them in their own shop or at the local Sunday market. Along the way, you can complete jobs for the townspeople to earn money and other rewards. The life sim elements also play a major role. NPCs follow their own daily routines, friendships and romances appear to be an important part of the experience, and the changing seasons influence everyday life at the academy. Leisure activities, social interactions and getting enough sleep all improve your well-being, which can in turn have a positive impact on relationships, income and exam results. The game can be played solo or in online co-op with up to four players.
Launching in 2026
Witchbrook is being developed by Chucklefish and Robotality and is currently scheduled to launch for PC sometime in 2026, according to its Steam page. However, neither a specific release date nor a price has been announced yet. Even so, the concept already appears to be resonating with players. According to SteamDB, Witchbrook currently ranks eighth among the most wishlisted games on Steam. There are also indications that the game could launch on Xbox Game Pass, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. Steam Deck compatibility is still listed as Unknown.
