Gran Turismo 4 named the best-rated video game of the 2000s

A recent study that involved no less than 269 video games released between January 2000 and December 2009 took into account the percentage of perfect score reviews posted on Metacritic by non-critics. While many of these titles look completely outdated in 2024, most of them can still deliver a level of entertainment and remain more engaging than the majority of today's game offerings.

Starting from the bottom up, we have the following titles in the 10th to 4th positions: Gothic II, Burnout 3: Takedown, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, God Hand, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and LEGO Batman: The Videogame. The podium, as mentioned in the abstract, goes to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Madden NFL 08, and Gran Turismo 4. Gran Turismo 4 received the "Best Racing Game" title from the E3 2003 Game Critics Awards and was also rated by IGN as the 5th best PS2 game of all time.

Released in 2004 for the Sony PlayStation 2 console, Gran Turismo 4 remains an iconic title even after two decades. It features an insane number of cars (721), from no less than 80 manufacturers. It all starts with the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage, reaching as far into the future (for that time) as 2022. The PlayStation Portable improved port arrived as Gran Turismo in October 2009.

Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 5 is currently available on Amazon for $53.75 and, after 2,971 user reviews, holds a rating of 4.6/5.
