Details including renders of Google's stylus for the Pixel Tablet have surfaced. The USI 2.0 stylus would have launched with the cancelled Pixel Tablet 2, but now it may not see the light of day.

The spec sheet for the Pixel Tablet says that it supports USI 2.0 stylus pens, like several Chromebooks and a few Android tablets such as the Amazon Fire Max 11. While owners can buy any USI 2.0 stylus, Google was supposed to release its own stylus and even a keyboard accessory for the tablet, but it didn't.

It turns out the stylus has been in development and was likely to arrive alongside the now-cancelled Pixel Tablet 2. Details of the stylus have now surfaced, but its fate is unknown considering Google seems to have pulled out again from the tablet market.

According to an Android Authority report, the stylus is officially referred to as the Pen for Google Pixel Tablet  is codenamed bushukan or B80 and has the model number GMOKF.  It would be available in two colors white and gray which matches the Pixel Tablet's Porcelain and Hazel colors and would have replaceable tips.

The leaked details reveal the stylus has a button at the top that launches a note-taking app when pressed. Another feature of the stylus is support for handwriting-to-text conversion, allowing users to write in text boxes with the stylus and have it converted to text.

When not in use, owners will be able to store the Pen for Google Pixel Tablet in the keyboard accessory in development in a style similar to the Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Surface Pro Keyboard. The stylus is also reported to have support for Find My Device so owners can locate it when it gets lost.

With the Pixel Tablet 2 now cancelled, it doesn't seem the Pen for Google Tablet will see the light of day. However, if Google doesn't shelve its Pixel Laptop plan, then it will be wise to add support for stylus input, so that the stylus can still be useful.

If you already own a Pixel Tablet or grabbed one from Amazon now that it is on sale (curr. $279 on Amazon), there are a plethora of USI 2.0 styluses available to buy such as Amazon's own Stylus Pen (available on Amazon for $34.99) for the Fire Max 11 and the 2023 Fire HD 10
