Computex 2019 | Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED redesign with improved cooling system
(May 28, 2019 update: The 2019 Aero 15 is now available for pre-order here through Gigabyte partners. Prices start at $1900 for the base Core i7 and GTX 1660 Ti configuration up to $4000 for the unlocked Core i9-9980HK with RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU and maxed out system RAM. The 4K UHD OLED option comes standard on all configurations.)
The Aero 15 series has been a huge success for Gigabyte as it's become a common alternative to the popular Dell XPS 15 especially for users who want more GPU power than what the XPS series currently has to offer. The Gigabyte system tops out at the RTX 2080 Max-Q while the Dell is limited to the GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q or GTX 1650 only.
All that power in such a small package, however, comes at the cost of heat. The original Aero 15 and Aero 15 Classic would become quite warm when running very intensive tasks. The 2019 Aero 15 redesign will address this that should hopefully lead to cooler surfaces and more stable clock rates.
The new chassis design incorporates larger 71-fin dual fans and five heat pipes with additional ventilation along the rear and bottom of the unit. The OEM claims that the new cooling solution can support up to 145 TDP which would make the chassis more suitable for the demanding Core i9 and GeForce RTX SKUs when compared to the original Aero 15 chassis.
Aside from the ventilation improvements, Gigabyte will also be outfitting the system with Samsung 4K UHD AMOLED panels, Killer E2600 RJ-45, and Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650.
Check out our images of the new Aero 15 below before the system becomes available this June. The announcement comes at the same time as the reveal of the new 17.3-inch Aero 17.
