It seems that Garmin's updates for older Instinct smartwatches are slowing up, even with the recent releases of the associated Instinct Crossover AMOLED and the Instinct Crossover AMOLED Tactical Edition smartwatches (curr. $649 on Amazon). To recap, the company issued System Software 17.07 at the end of September with a single change.
Then at the end of last month, Garmin rolled out Beta Version 17.08 in a rather confusing release. Now, it has pivoted this build to its stable branch, which it claims should have reached around 50% of eligible smartwatches by now. If that is not the case, then you can manually trigger its installation using the Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express service.
For some reason, Garmin is being rather coy about what System Software 17.08 brings to the table. Recently, multiple complaints emerged about fast battery drain occurring on System Software 17.07. Nonetheless, Garmin claims to have rolled out System Software 17.08 with merely a set of miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements. Unfortunately, the company has not clarified what these changes are yet.
