Garmin Connect: Latest update brings improvements — not just for CIRQA users

While we previously covered the APK teardown of Garmin Connect version 5.27 and the unreleased wearables hidden within its code, the update also introduces notable user-facing features. Chief among them is Essentials, a new view designed to streamline the app's dashboard by highlighting the most relevant data. With it, Garmin alleviates potential overwhelm for users looking to quickly check core health stats without navigating Connect’s vast ocean of metrics
Much like the existing Health Status feature, Essentials aims to improve overall clarity. At present, users must manually enable the feature in the app settings, where they can choose which metrics to highlight. Up to four parameters can be featured prominently on the Garmin Connect homepage, each displayed with a numerical value or text rating, a visual graph, and a corresponding icon. Available options include Sleep Score, Body Battery, Training Readiness, heart rate status, Health Status, and step count.
According to Gadget & Wearables, version 5.27 brings several other functional tweaks. These include updated options for selecting a primary training device—a change particularly relevant following the release of the Garmin CIRQA—along with expanded Garmin Coach tools for triathletes and adjustments to sleep schedules.
