Following the lead of the Ryzen 9 7900 and the Ryzen 9 7950X, the Zen 4 Ryzen 5 7600X is now on sale on Amazon at a discount of 27% or US$80 on the US$299 list price. The resulting US$219 rate is the same as the Ryzen 5 7600 non-X MSRP. In other words, if you were eyeing up a Ryzen 5 7600, you can now get the measurably better Ryzen 5 7600X without spending more (via slickdeals).
The Ryzen 5 7600X is a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 4 CPU with a base clock of 4.7 GHz and a boost clock of 5.3 GHz alongside L2 and L3 cache of 6 and 32 MB respectively. Moreover, the chip has a default TDP of 105 W and a maximum socket power (PPT) of 142 W. With these specs, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X proved to be a gaming beast in our review of the CPU.
In particular, the Ryzen 5 7600X even managed to beat Intel's 12th gen flagship the Core i9-12900K in gaming performance, as the AMD chip came out 4% ahead of the Intel CPU in our tests. This showing is seriously impressive, since the Core i9-12900K is a 16-core processor with a default TDP of 125 W and a maximum Turbo power of 241 W.
Although not as impressive as the gaming performance, the Ryzen 5 7600X is also a pretty capable chip when it comes to general application workloads. Per our measurements, the CPU is only 10% behind the 16-core Core i9-12900K and is 7% ahead of the Zen 3 Ryzen 9 5900X which is a 12-core, 24-thread CPU.
All in all, the Ryzen 5 7600X is an excellent processor for gaming that is now potentially a no-brainer thanks to the current discount.
