A new rumour says the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will exclusively be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, leaving the Exynos 2400 for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+.

Despite initial scepticism, it is now commonly accepted that Exynos 2400 will power Galaxy S flagships in many regions, including Samsung's home country South Korea. However, only the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ could use Samsung's flagship SoC, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will stick with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy across all regions. The information comes from renowned leaker @tech_reve.

This should come as a breath of fresh air for potential Galaxy S24 Ultra buyers. It will also "incentivize" Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ owners to upgrade to the Ultra should the Exynos 2400 lag behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The latter's maiden Geekbench run has been underwhelming, but it's best to avoid jumping to conclusions until both chips have been benchmarked. For what it's worth, Samsung's internal tests suggest the Exynos 2400 is faster than Qualcomm's offering.

On paper, the Exynos 2400 should have an edge over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 thanks to its 10-core CPU and RDNA2-powered Xclipse GPU. Ice Universe says it will feature a quad-cluster design (1+2+3+4) with the prime core at 3.16 GHz, one performance cluster at 2.9 GHz, the second performance core cluster at 2.6 GHz and the efficiency cores at 1.95 GHz. Overall, it is slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of raw clock speeds, and it could end up affecting its single-core performance.
