Further Fujifilm GFX100 II rumours suggest 8K 4:2:2 video with new AF tricks for upcoming medium-format camera
Previous leaks and rumours indicate that Fujifilm will be replacing the GFX100 medium-format camera with an updated GFX100 II, which is slated to feature a detachable tilting EVF with an astonishing 9.2-million-dot resolution. Other leaks, coming from FujiRumours, reveal that the GFX100 II might have some neat autofocus and powerful video tricks up its sleeve.
The most recent rumours about the Fujifilm GFX100 II suggest that Fujifilm will be bringing its touch-to-track autofocus interface over from photography modes into the video side of things. The feature would allow selecting a subject to track using the touchscreen while recording video. While this may not be an entirely necessary feature for everybody, more interaction options and customisability for the end-user can only be a positive.
Other recent reports complement a previous report claiming that Fujifilm has optimised the 102-MP sensor in the GFX100 II for video by increasing the readout speed. The GFX100 II is now also expected to land with 8K video, albeit with an unspecified framerate, as well as impressive 4K video capabilities. With 4K 60 FPS video and support for 10-bit, 4:2:2 and internal ProRes recording, the GFX100 II is stacking up to be rather capable at recording video.
How this all plays out remains to be seen, though. Fujifilm is expected to launch the GFX100 II on September 12 at the Fujifilm X Summit in Stockholm Sweden.
