Panasonic teases 4 new S series L-mount full-frame lenses with launch date tbd
Panasonic plans to flesh out its line-up of S series L-mount lenses, with at least four new lenses confirmed on the latest roadmap. Of the four lenses in question, perhaps the most tantalising is a 100-500 mm super telephoto lens — a niche not currently served by the Lumix line-up.
Panasonic's Lumix S series L-mount lens line-up features a number of quality lenses across a variety of focal lengths, but the Japanese company appears to be expanding on that collection of lenses with at least four new additions.
Panasonic Japan recently revealed updates to the S series lens roadmap after something of a lull in its lens release schedule.
The four new lenses appear be of the following nature:
A ~100-500 mm super telephoto zoom lens
A ~28-180 mm telephoto unit
A ~28-75 mm standard zoom lens
A 100 mm telephoto macro unit, likely with an f/1.8 maximum aperture
Currently, the Lumix S series lens family consists of 14 lenses, starting with the Lumix S 14-28 mm f/4.5-5.6 Macro, with the Lumix S 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 Macro O.I.S. topping out the range of focal lengths. This 300 mm maximum focal length would make the confirmation of a 100-500 mm zoom lens particularly enticing for anyone looking for more reach on their L-mount camera.

My interest in tech started in high school, rooting and flashing my Motorola Defy, but I really fell down the rabbit hole when I realised I could overclock the i7 930 in my Gigabyte pre-built PC. This tinkering addiction eventually lead me to study product design in university. I think tech should improve the lives of the people using it, no matter the field. I like to read and write about laptops, smartphones, software and trends in technology.
