The GPU market is in the best state it has ever been since 2020. Last time, we reported that AMD GPUs in Germany and Austria were going for 8% under MSRP, while Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series was still selling for 2% above the suggested retail price. Things have improved quite a lot since then according to 3DCenter.
Per 3DCenter, the Radeon RX 6000 boards are currently selling for 14% less than the MSRP in Germany and Austria. The Radeon RX 6950 XT, the RX 6900 XT, and the RX 6600 have experienced the biggest price drops and now go for 22%, 24%, and 25% below the suggested retail price. The price correction is the least for the RX 6800 XT and the RX 6800 with cards enjoying a 1% and 2% discount on their MSRP respectively.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series have shown the same pricing trend with the high-end/flagship GPUs experiencing the biggest and the mid-range enjoying the least price reduction. For instance, the RTX 3090 Ti can now be found at 40% less than the suggested retail price according to 3DCenter. On the other hand, the RTX 3070 Ti is retailing at around -1%. Curiously, low-end RTX 30 boards like the RTX 3050, the RTX 3060, and the RTX 3060 Ti are still hovering above MSRP with a 10%, 3%, and 5% markup respectively.
While we don’t exactly know why low-end Nvidia GPUs are still above their intended retail price, we can assume that it is because of Nvidia’s alleged release schedule of next-gen RTX 40 boards. Rumors have it that the RTX 40 series will see a staggered launch with the RTX 4090 coming first to the market followed by the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 in 2023. If true, this would mean that the successors to RTX 3060 and the RTX 3060 Ti can be up to a year away, resulting in a steady strong demand for these parts.
Finally, as the GPU market has improved drastically over the past months, the latest report is the last one from 3DCenter.
