Overclocking tool developer Yuri Bubliy aka “1usmus” teased in a recent tweet his first attempt at GPU OC. 1usmus is planning to release a Radeon Monster Profile (RMP) add-on for the Hydra tool that is primarily aimed at AMD Ryzen processor overclocking. RMP is targeting Radeon RX 6000 GPUs and promises to unleash the maximum potential of the RDNA 2 architecture via a combination of unique settings along with a new volt-frequency curve.
In order to provide more performance, RMP is undervolting the memory subsystem by 6% and consequently reduces the heat of the GDDR6 modules. Furthermore, RMP increases the core frequency relative to the lowered operating voltage, which can result in a 300 MHz clock boost for GPUs like the Radeon RX 6800 XT. As indicated by an included graph, this boost can make the 6800 XT perform better than the 6900 XT stock and even the RTX 3090 Ti stock in the 3DMark Time Spy test.
While this can lead to a superior frames / $ ratio for the RX 6800 XT, it also pushes the TBP to new heights. In the provided graphs, 1usmus shows a 305 W profile that is faster than the RX 6900 XT 299 W stock and a 370 W profile that is faster than the RTX 3090 Ti 450 W stock. 1usmus mentions that the profiles are universal and adaptive so lower SKUs can also take advantage. However, a good cooling system is crucial for stability, making RMP best suited for non-reference boards with bulkier custom coolers.
The RMP is scheduled to be available later this fall, and the developer hinted that he may also launch similar profiles for the upcoming Radeon RX 7000 cards.
