AMD slashes Radeon RX 6000 GPU prices by up to 30%
Update: AMD specifies that these price slashes do not come directly from them and their comparison simply listed the latest USD retail prices at Newegg as of September 15, 2022.
With the next gen RDNA 3 Radeon RX 7000 GPU series right around the corner, AMD is now looking to clear RDNA 2 inventories by offering enticing discounts on all the Radeon RX 6000 models. AMD also compares the new performance / price ratios with Nvidia’s offer, touting the superior energy efficiency of the RDNA 2 GPUs.
It looks like the RX 6800 / XT stocks are not exactly plentiful, since AMD is offering price cuts of only US$30 and US$50, respectively. The lowest discount of US$10 is offered for the RX 6400, while most of the mid-range models get a ~US$100 markdown. When it comes to the flagship models, Team Red is upping the ante with a generous US$300 reduction for the RX 6900 XT, whereas the RX 6950 XT price was lowered by US$150. As far as performance per Watt goes, the RX 6900 XT appears now to be a very alluring US$699 alternative for Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti currently priced at US$899.
As we get closer to the Radeon RX 7000 launch, retailers will most likely offer special discounts of their own, and RDNA 2 prices will further decline with RDNA 3 availability. The RX 6900 XT may seem like a great deal now, but keep in mind that AMD’s next gen mid-range GPUs will match if not even surpass it at lower price points. However, the mid-range RDNA 3 solutions might not get launched together with the flagships this November.
