AMD slashes Ryzen 7000X/3D processor prices by up to 18%

With the Ryzen 7 7800X3D now available, AMD is readjusting the price scheme for the entire Ryzen 7000X/3D desktop CPU lineup. Most of the reviews around the Internet seem to agree that the R7 7800X3D is the new gaming CPU king, overtaking even the R9 7950X3D by a smidge, so it makes sense for AMD to lower prices for the higher-end X3D CPUs. Moreover, AMD is cutting prices for the non-3D processors, as well. Keep in mind that these are MSRPs, and some retailers will no doubt ask for higher prices depending on availability.

The R9 7950X3D is the only model that does not get a price cut and retains its US$699.99 mark. However, the non-3D variant now has a 599.99 MSRP and Micro Center even has it discounted down to US$550. While the R9 7900X3D is getting a decent US$50 markdown to US$549.99, the biggest price drop is reserved for the R9 7900X, which now has an MSRP of US$423.99, sliding under the the US$449.99 launch price for the R7 7800X3D. In this case, AMD is making it clear that gamers have to pay a premium for the extra performance, but the R9 7900X is still superior when it comes to content creation and general compute tasks. Slight price cuts are applied to the R7 7700X, now available for US$391 and the R5 7600X that is down to US$284 (US$238 at Micro Center).

The new MSRPs should level the playing field between AMD’s Ryzen 7000X processors and Intel’s 13th gen desktop CPUs. It all comes down to motherboard prices, which still appear to be somewhat higher on the Intel side, yet they do offer better features on average.
