The recently announced GPD Pocket 4 is now available on Indiegogo. All three configurations are enjoying pre-sale discounts, with the top-end variant featuring the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 priced at $1,335.

GPD has made the Pocket 4 available on Indiegogo. It's one of the first AMD Strix Point handheld devices announced, and as a successor to the Pocket 3, it brings a handful of improvements. There are two Zen 5 configurations available, while a third option comes with a Hawk Point APU.

Among the two Zen 5 options, the top-end variant sports the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which features the Radeon 890M with 16 CUs. While GPD isn't marketing the Pocket 4 as a gaming handheld, this upper-end RDNA 3.5 iGPU can easily handle most games at the 1080p resolution.

If you want better gaming performance, there's an option to connect the GPD Pocket 4 with an eGPU through the USB4 port (OneXGPU available on Amazon). However, it would've been better to see it feature an OCuLink port instead, as it has a higher bandwidth, which eventually leads to better performance out of eGPU setups.

Nonetheless, the other Strix Point option features the Ryzen AI 9 365 that also has an RDNA 3.5 iGPU, but it's the Radeon 880M with 12 CUs. As for the third, it packs the last-gen Ryzen 7 8840U with the Radeon 780M, which is also capable of smoothly handling AAA games at 1080p with the visual quality dialed to Low.

All the configurations have a 45 Wh battery, and besides the USB4 port, there are one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, and one USB-A 2.0. The GPD Pocket 4 also has a modular expansion slot, and the company is currently offering four modules for it.

As for the prices, the Pocket 4 with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, 64 GB of RAM, and 2 TB storage is currently $1,335 on Indiegogo, while the configuration with the AI 9 365 and the same amount of RAM and storage is $1,057. The most affordable option comes with the Ryzen 7 8840U, 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. It costs $829.

All the pre-orders are set to ship in January 2025, but it's unclear when the retail variants will be available. You can learn more about the device and the retail pricing from the Indiegogo page.
