Zowie, BenQ's esports brand, previously had a number of gaming mice featuring the Divina coating, which was a departure from the matte finishes and coatings that we are all familiar with on gaming mice these days. It's been a while since Zowie has used this shiny coating, but it looks as though it might make a comeback, if a recent teaser by Zowie Thailand on Facebook (via r/MouseReview on Reddit) is to be believed.
Zowie EC1-DW 4K now in white?
The combination of the shape, position of the side buttons, and the presence of an ER2-80 4K Enhanced wireless receiver all suggest that the white mouse in question is a Zowie EC1-DW, which is a wireless ergonomic gaming mouse that is currently only offered in black with a matte coating. Unlike the recently leaked Pulsar X3 CrazyLight we reported on prior, the Zowie EC1-DW is only offered in a right-handed version, and that is likely to be the case for the white version as well. That said, the EC1-DW is offered in three sizes (small, medium, and large), so it stands to reason the Divina coating version will as well.
There is no reason to suspect Zowie will put any new hardware into the white version of the EC1-DW, so we can expect around 63 g total weight with a PixArt PAW 3950 sensor — the same one found in the Keychron M7 8K we recently reviewed. The EC1-DW also uses a web driver for configuration, which is a nice usability touch for those who like to customise their gaming mice.
It's unclear exactly when the new glossy Zowie gaming mouse will be launched, although there are reports on Reddit that there are already professional players using the mouse in tournaments, so it would seem likely that a launch will happen in the coming months. It's also not uncommon for Zowie's gaming mice to sell for a premium, like the ZA13-DW, which currently retails for $149.99 on Amazon.
