It seems PUBG’s free run in the battle royale genre on Android is about to be seriously challenged. Epic Games has published a news item entitled “State of Mobile” that reveals the company’s plans to bring Fortnite to the world’s most popular mobile operating system. The information offered in regard to this revelation is short and sweet:
We are targeting this summer for the release. We know many of you are excited for this release, and we promise that when we have more information to share, you’ll hear it from us first.
Fortnite has been massively successful on iOS; a recent data report stated that the game grossed over US$15 million within 20 days of being monetized. It’s fair to say that Epic will likely expect similar returns when the title is officially released for Android users to enjoy. The Google OS enjoys a huge share of the worldwide mobile operating system market, so it will be interesting to see what big numbers Fortnite can rake in.
There have already been warnings to Android users to beware of fake Fortnite apps. Naturally, with the news that the game is coming to this particular operating system, scammers will be busy knocking out even more phony apps with the hopes of ensnaring some of the game’s fans and infecting their devices with spyware.
