Firebat has introduced a refreshed version of the A8 mini PC. This newer configuration of the system features a capable APU from the AMD Strix Point lineup. To be specific, it packs the Ryzen AI 9 365, which comes with a 10-core configuration.
Most importantly, this AMD APU features the Radeon 880M iGPU, the direct successor to the popular 780M. This integrated GPU has 12 CUs and is based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. While it's a slightly less capable option than the 890M, the 880M can offer a playable gaming experience at 1080p with FSR turned on.
For those who want a bit more GPU power, the refreshed Firebat A8 comes with an OCuLink port, allowing users to install an eGPU with the mini PC. There are two USB4 ports as well, which expand the external GPU compatibility, and besides these ports, the system has the following ports:
- 3x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x 2.5G LAN
- 2x 3.5 mm audio
- 1x SD card slot
The company also highlights the dual-fan cooling setup of the Firebat A8. It's said to allow the system to deliver 65 W of performance. Other notable aspects include 64 GB DDR5 RAM support, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and one M.2 2280 SSD slot. The barebone variant of this Strix Point mini PC is currently available on AliExpress at around $911. That is quite a costly price tag, especially when considering that better options such as the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370-powered Beelink SER9 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage are available for under $900.
