Reviews for the Eurocom Sky X7E2
Too hot to handle. We revisit the Clevo P775DM1 as the Eurocom Sky X7E2 with an unlocked LGA 1151 CPU and the fastest Pascal GPU to date. Core temperatures and fan noise are both quite high as expected when such high TDP components are involved.

Well, the X7E2 is a very good machine overall. It probably has all the extras you’d like as a gamer, including an optional 120HZ 1440p display, TB3 port, MXM GPU and replaceable 1151 socket Intel CPU. It can handle the gaming load of a typical game, even the quite heavy Ashes Of Singularity. Now the X7E2/Clevo P775DM3 can even be configured with a Prema unlocked bios. Its caveats will rarely bother most of the gamers (weight, noise) as they are usual and expected, at least when compared to other laptops.

Model: The Sky is the limit, or so says Eurocom with their absurdly powerful pseudo-notebook the Eurocom Sky X7E2. Behind the facade of a notebook are desktop grade CPU and graphics. The Sky X7E2 is powered by Intel’s Core i7-6700K desktop CPU and either a choice of desktop-equivalent Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060,1070 or 1080 graphics solution. Both, the CPU and GPU are easily replaceable due to its socketed design. With all that graphics horsepower it is surely guaranteed to scorch its competition without leaving a trace. Although the Sky X7E2 has a powerful graphics card it is unfortunate that Eurocom has decided to only opt for a peasant IPS Full HD display for its default configuration. For notebooks of these size and caliber it would’ve been better to have a 4K solution by default nonetheless one positive side of this is that the user can always opt to change it during the configuration process for either a 120 Hz FHD panel or a 60 Hz 4k panel. Furthermore, the Sky X7E2 also supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM which is beastly. Storage options for this notebook are also plentiful with mixed options of having up to a pair of M.2 SSDs and 2 additional hard drives possibly giving up to 5TB worth of storage space.
As for wireless connectivity the Sky X7E2 is equipped with a Killer E2400 chip for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity however should you want a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth solution the user must give up one of the M.2 slots used for the SSD’s for a standard combo card. Although a beast like this means battery life is going to suffer which also most likely means that you are going to stay plugged in which at that point you might as well plug in the Ethernet cable for connectivity. Because the Sky X7E2 is one hefty notebook you can be guaranteed that the chassis construction is solid and rigid as can be. Speaking of heft, this notebook weighs a whopping 4.1 kg and that’s discounting the power supply which adds another 1.4 kg. All in all, this isn’t something you want to lug around on a regular basis without breaking your back. The keyboard hasn’t really changed much compared to its predecessor but scores well in being solid with good key travel and feedback, additionally the keyboard is also RGB backlit with 3 levels of brightness. The touchpad however remains a standard fare. In the end there really isn’t much to say about this notebook other than Eurocom’s engineers achieving a lot in a DTR form factor since essentially this notebook is loaded for bear like an equivalent Mini-ITX PC plus the peripherals seems really over the top.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile: Pascal based laptop graphics card using GDDR5 graphics memory. Should offer a similar performance to the deskto GTX 1080. However, there is also a more power efficient "Max-Q" version that performs worse than the normal GTX1080 and is used in thin and light laptops.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
