AMD's AM4 has earned itself a reputation as one of the longest-lived, receiving its latest update as recently as June 2025 — the Ryzen 5 5500X3D, that is — but the CPU maker seems to be content to finally be letting the old platform die out. At least, that appears to be the case for the gaming market, as a recent report by Tweakers claims that AMD looks to be moving the popular AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D to end-of-life status.
AMD launched the 5700X3D at CES 2024 in January of the same year, and the 3D V Cache CPU has been a decent value option for gamers ever since. Curiously, while launch pricing of the 5700X3D was $249.99, it quickly dropped in price later in the same year, reaching an all-time low of $187.83 on Amazon. Since then, though, prices have skyrocketed, reaching well over the $249 MSRP in May 2025 before falling back down to MSRP.
AMD has yet to confirm the status of the 5700X3D, but according to Tweakers's sources, the CPU will not be restocked going forward, meaning only remaining stock is available, and that seems to have already dried up on Amazon. At the time of writing, searches fail to bring up any results for the processor, and when you do find the product page, prices are ridiculously high.
This move follows AMD sunsetting both the Ryzen 5 5600X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D late last year, with Zen 4 and Zen 5 officially becoming the replacements for what is now decidedly last-gen technology. Now, to get the same core count in a relatively modern AMD CPU, gamers will have to resort to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead, which retails at $376.16 on Amazon.
