Early Sony Xperia 1 IV rumor focuses on the potential camera equipment provider
Sony fans are waiting for the Xperia 1 III to go on sale, which was believed to be occurring in June but may now have been delayed for several weeks in some regions. While the wait continues, the first news (rumor) about the Xperia 1 IV (mark 4) has appeared online via Chinese social media. Definitely a pinch of salt required here, although the information is far from unbelievable.
According to the post in question, Sony will continue replacing the camera sensors that don’t come from its own lineup. We just reported on how four out of five of the cameras in the Sony Xperia 1 III now come from Sony’s stock, and it seems the Xperia 1 IV will do away with any lenses that aren’t in-house units. At present, this would mean saying farewell to the Samsung ISOCELL S5K4H7 selfie camera.
The original Xperia 1 smartphone utilized three camera sensors from Samsung, so it appears like a natural evolution is occurring here as Sony aims to make the potential Xperia 1 IV reliant solely on the Japanese company for its camera equipment. Unsurprisingly, it’s expected that the next entrant to the respected Xperia 1 range will be released sometime in 2022.
