Surprising Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III prices appear on US retailer site
The Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III have been spotted on the online site for Focus, a respectable photography retailer based in Brooklyn, NY. Sony has yet to reveal the official prices in certain key markets while the release date for the US and Europe is rumored for the end of August. Focus has gone with a price of US$998 for the 6.1-inch Xperia 5 III and the larger 6.5-inch Xperia 1 III has an asking price of US$1,298 here.
Although it’s likely these US prices for the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III are placeholders, they do seem to be around the figures that many people expected for these particular Sony smartphones. In fact, they could even be considered a bit cheaper than anticipated, as some believed the Xperia 1 III could come in at US$1,400-1,500 with the smaller Xperia 5 III priced at well over the US$1,000 mark.
There has been speculation that buyers in other key markets could see a particularly high price tag for the Sony Xperia 1 III, such as €1,300 in Europe and around £1,300 in the UK. The 2021 flagship does have a lot to offer, with its 4K HDR OLED 120 Hz display, SD 888 chip, and versatile selection of camera sensors (16 mm, 24 mm, and 70-105 mm). But it remains to be seen if users in Europe or North America are going to be as enthusiastic as buyers in China have been about the new Sony Xperia smartphones.
