The Sony Xperia 1 III is finally available to pre-order in the Eurozone and at a hefty €1,299. Its delayed release date may hold Sony's flagship back, though.

Sony may have revealed how much the Xperia 1 III will cost in Russia and the US. However, the company has kept quiet about the device's price in the Eurozone. MediaMarkt has though, and the Xperia 1 III is more expensive than an equivalent Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Specifically, the Xperia 1 III is €50 pricier than the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Additionally, Sony will not ship the Xperia 1 III until early August, by which time Samsung will probably have reduced the Galaxy S21 Ultra's price.

MediaMarkt has discounted the Xperia 1 III until June 27, bringing it below the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The company has multiple offers, such as a Sony WF-XB700 earbud bundle that costs €1,236.59, including taxes. The cheapest offer is €1,169.10, making the Xperia 1 III more palatable than the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

In saying that, the Xperia 1 III is €70 cheaper than a comparable iPhone 12 Pro Max, before discounts. Nonetheless, the Xperia 1 III may seem mighty expensive when August rolls around, especially with the arrival of next-generation Galaxy Z devices. Moreover, the Xperia 1 III will start shipping a month before Apple launches its iPhone 13/12s series. In short, the Xperia 1 III may seem overpriced by the time it ships.
