Official Sony Xperia 1 III price in the US leaves potential buyers wondering about pre-order bundles to soften the blow
The Sony Xperia 1 III price has been leaked and speculated upon numerous times, but now Sony USA has posted the official price for that market: US$1,299.99. However, there is still no specific release date for the new Snapdragon 888 flagship smartphone, although pre-orders are rumored to begin on July 1. A forum poster has stated that a Sony customer rep told them the Xperia 1 III would be “available” on June 19, although that could mean one of several things.
Many expected a price for the Sony Xperia 1 III to be in this region, especially as the Xperia 1 II still has a price tag of US$1,199.99 (currently discounted to US$1,149) on the official Sony US site. There is wide belief Sony will offer some sort of pre-order bundle akin to the predecessor being launched with the WF-1000XM3 headphones as a bonus. Those same headphones were leaked as a pre-order gift by Sony Russia, but there is hope that the Xperia 1 III might come with the new WF-1000XM4 headphones as a freebie to ease the purchase pain.
Buyers of the North American model of the Xperia 1 III will be restricted to the black edition that comes with 256 GB storage. The smartphone delivers dual-SIM capability and is reportedly compatible with the 5G networks in the US offered by the carriers T-Mobile and Verizon. August 31 has also been mentioned as a possible US release date for the device, so there might still be quite a wait yet. Official prices for the Sony Xperia 1 III in the UK and Europe have yet to be posted, but fans in those markets will at least get to choose between black and purple models.
