With the launch of the iPhone 15 series out of the way, all eyes are now set on heavy hitters from the Android camp like the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the Pixel 8. While we have yet to get any official news about these devices, numerous leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S24 and the Pixel 8 have revealed a lot of interesting details. For instance, reports claim that Samsung could be removing the 10x zoom shooter from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Now, a new rumor has seemingly confirmed what we have already heard from various sources: The Galaxy S24 may launch before the Galaxy S23 anniversary. In other words, we might get to see the Galaxy S24 devices in January rather than February.
The latest report comes to us courtesy of Revegnus on Twitter (via Wccftech). The leaker claims that Samsung will start producing parts for the Galaxy S24 in mid-October and the launch will be “brought forward by about a month compared to the previous year”.
Since Samsung revealed the Galaxy S23 on February 1 with a launch slated for February 17, the Galaxy S24 announcement could fall in early January with a release date set for mid-January. To that end, famed leaker Ice Universe postulates on Weibo that the Samsung Galaxy S24 release date could be around January 18.
Interestingly, Revegnus suggests that the reason why Samsung is bringing the launch of the Galaxy S24 back by a month is the strong demand of the iPhone 15 series. The iPhone 15 is seemingly enjoying an excellent reception as maintained by various reports despite concerns related to questionable durability, overheating A17 Pro SoC, and worse repairability.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung actually unveils the Galaxy S24 in January or follows the launch schedule of the Galaxy S23. Whatever the case ends up being, take the information presented here with a grain of salt.
The early release of the Galaxy S24 series is in response to Apple's iPhone 15 series, which has seen robust demand despite the economic downturn.
