Dynabook announces Portégé X30W-J and Portégé X30L-J, two Tiger Lake laptops that weigh less than one kilogram
Dynabook just announced two new featherweight laptops that pack a Tiger Lake punch. The new Portégé X30W-J and Portégé X30L-J boast the latest silicon from Intel in packages that weigh less than one kilogram (2.2 pounds).
The Portégé X30W-J is a 2-in-1 convertible with a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IGZO touchscreen from Sharp. The display features anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass and works with the DynaBook TruPen (Wacom AES). Users will have the option of either an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1165G7 built on the new Tiger Lake architecture. Both CPUs are paired with Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics. The X30W-J supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 dual-channel RAM, up to a 1 TB SSD, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0. Around the sides are one HDMI port, on USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a microSD card slot. Users can log in with either the fingerprint reader or the IR camera. Powering the X30W-J is a 53 Wh battery.
The Portégé X30L-J comes in a hair lighter, starting at less than 900 grams (1.98 pounds). The display is a 13.3-inch Sharp IGZO screen with either an HD (1366 x 768) or Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The screen has options for touch and a privacy filter. The X30L-J can be configured with the same CPU and graphics options as the X30W-J. However, the X30L-J supports up to 48 GB of DDR4 RAM. One RAM stick (16 GB) is soldered to the mainboard of the device, and users will have access to one additional RAM slot. WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, an IR camera, and a fingerprint reader are all present as well. The X30L-J offers a single HDMI port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a microSD card slot. The battery is 53 Wh.
Both laptops come in a Mystic Blue Metallic color and both have a magnesium alloy chassis. The Portégé X30W-J is part of Intel's Project Athena program and is targeted for certification with Intel's Evo program.
Both the Portégé X30W-J and Portégé X30L-J will be available from Dynabook in the fourth quarter of 2020. Pricing is not yet available but will be released closer to the laptops’ availability.
