ASRock has updated its DeskMini X600 platform with a new model. Arriving over a year after its predecessor debuted as the 'world's first' Mini STX mini-PC powered AMD Socket AM5, the new DeskMini X600 can already be picked up on Amazon where it costs under $225 as a barebones unit. In short, the new DeskMini X600 retains Socket AM5 support with Ryzen 8000G APUs recommended.
For reference, ASRock complements the DeskMini X600 with the DeskMini X600W, which adds an Intel AC-3168 Wi-Fi kit. Not to be confused with older models, the two mini-PCs add USB4 connectivity atop of the ports that last year's models already offered. As far as we can tell, both the new 'USB4' versions of the DeskMini X600 and X600W feature the following ports:
- 1x 2.5 Gigabit LAN (Dragon RTL8125BG)
- 1x 3.5 mm microphone input
- 1x 3.5 mm headphone jack
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (4K/120 Hz)
- 1x HDMI 2.1 (4K/120 Hz)
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C
- 1x USB4
Moreover, ASRock's new mini-PCs integrate SATA3 and M.2 2280 slots with dual SO-DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of DDR5-6400 non-ECC RAM. According to the company, the DeskMini X600 packages all this hardware into a 155 x 155 x 80 mm case with a volume of just 1.92 litres. Please see ASRock's website for more details.
