Deal | Dell G15 (5535) with RTX 4060 and 165 Hz display is on sale at excellent price
We reported late last month that the Dell G15 5530 with an RTX 4060 and a Core i7-13650HX was going for only $899.99 at Dell’s official store. At that time, we argued that the deal was a rather good value since you were not only getting a powerful RTX 4060 GPU and Core i7-13650HX CPU but also a snappy 360 Hz 15.6-inch IPS display.
If you missed out on the deal earlier, you are in luck as the AMD variant of the machine, the Dell G15 5535, is now on sale at only $849.99. The price represents a big $250 discount as the machine normally costs $1,100.
As is the case with many Dell offers, you can drag this price down further by applying a 10% coupon code that Dell delivers to new email sign-ups.
Specs-wise, the AMD Ryzen-based Dell G15 5535 features a Ryzen 7 7840HS Zen 4 CPU, an RTX 4060 laptop GPU, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage, and a 15.6-inch IPS display. The display runs at a fairly quick 165 Hz refresh rate while boasting FHD resolution, 100% coverage of the sRGB gamut, and a 3 ms response time.
Dell G15 5535 brings a lot of goodies but is bulky
Our review of the Dell G15 5530 which is the same laptop as the G15 5535 on sale but with a similarly powerful Intel Core i7-13650HX CPU and RTX 4050, shows that Dell has created a pretty solid machine that nails the basics.
For starters, the Dell G15 is a laptop built for 1080p gaming and it delivers exactly that. Our review unit with a Core i7-13650HX and an RTX 4050 laptop managed titles like F1 22 at above 170 FPS with FHD/high settings. Since the RTX 4060 is noticeably more powerful than the RTX 4050, most modern AAA titles can be played at 60 FPS without any issues.
Display-wise, the 15.6-inch panel delivers on Dell’s claim of 100% sRGB and a 3 ms response time, as we measured 98% coverage of the sRGB gamut and a Gray-to-Gray response time of 3.39 ms. Additionally, the screen boasts a commendable contrast ratio of 1,524:1 and a satisfactory brightness of 320 nits.
That said, while the Dell G15 5535’s display is enough for gamers, be sure to grab our free ICC profile from the review page to improve the color accuracy of the panel.
Moving, for a big gaming laptop, the Dell G15 also shows good endurance of 6.5 hours in our WLAN test.
All in all, if you don’t mind the bulky build of the Dell G15, the laptop presents a stellar value proposition and is a pretty good buy at the discounted price.
