DJI is rumoured to be preparing a batch of new devices for release before the end of the year. Of those, the Avata 360 dropped by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last week. Now it is the turn of the Osmo Pocket 4, which has not been pictured in as much detail as DJI's first 360° drone.
As the first image below shows, DJI's next vlogging camera will be a direct successor to the Osmo Pocket 3 it released over two years ago (curr. $502 on Amazon). Despite the time lapse between the pair, the FCC identifies a few similarities that the Osmo Pocket 4 will carry over. For instance, DJI will not upgrade the Osmo Pocket series beyond a WiFi 5-capable modem.
Bluetooth Low Energy support returns, too. However, it remains to be seen whether the Osmo Pocket 4 will advance beyond the BLE 5.2 standard that DJI afforded its predecessor. Regardless, the FCC indicates that the Osmo Pocket 4 will launch with a significant battery upgrade. So far, the FCC has only revealed a 1,545 mAh rated battery capacity.
Nonetheless, this would represent an 18% upgrade on the 1,300 mAh battery inside the Osmo Pocket 3 while maintaining the same 7.7 V voltage. Thus, we could reasonably expect DJI to advertise the Osmo Pocket 4 with a typical battery capacity exceeding 1,600 mAh. In other words, a battery capacity upgrade of over 20% seems likely at this stage.
