The DJI Mini 5 Pro has taken a step closer to release after being spotted in test flights earlier this month. Now, the new sub-250 g drone has appeared at a US regulatory body with a significantly larger battery than the current Mini 4 Pro.

DJI has just released the Mavic 4 Pro after what amounted to almost a year's worth of leaks and rumours. According to typically reliable sources, a new Mini series drone is not far behind. For example, X account Hakasushi remarked earlier this month that the Mini 5 Pro would launch in September, which is typically when DJI refreshes its Osmo Action series too.

However, a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing indicates that the DJI may be replacing the Mini 4 Pro (curr. $1,399 on Amazon) much sooner than expected. As it stands, DJI has only bound the FCC to a short-term confidentiality agreement until May 27 2025, after which the regulatory body can publish external and internal photos, as well as the Mini 5 Pro's user manual.

Ultimately, it seems unlikely that the Mini 5 Pro will arrive as soon as next week without as much as an official teaser being published. The fact that some of these documents are almost six months old suggests that DJI will not hold out until late summer or early autumn before updating its Mini series with a new model, though. Regardless, the FCC has confirmed the Mini 5 Pro's battery capacity and charging capabilities well ahead of schedule.

As the first screenshot below makes clear, the Mini 5 Pro will eventually launch with a 33.5 Wh battery (7.16V/4,680 mAh), up from 18.96 Wh for the Mini 4 Pro or 28.4 Wh if you opt for the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. This new larger battery capacity will be joined by a jump to 65 W charging too, courtesy of DJI's 65W Portable Charger. Reserved for the Air 3 and Mavic 3 series, among others, the 65W Portable Charger should see the Mini 5 Pro recharging much more quickly than the 30 W that DJI provides to its predecessor.
