Compact 4-inch rugged smartphone to launch soon with 120 Hz display and 48 MP ultra-wide rear camera

Compact smartphone enthusiasts barely have any mainstream options left in 2026. However, certain lesser-known brands with unique product offerings do continue to offer compact smartphones, such as the Fossibot F116 Pro rugged smartphone.
Compact 4-inch rugged smartphone with impressive camera setup
With a tiny 4-inch screen, the F116 Pro measures in at just around 4.5 x 2.36 x 0.9 inches. Being a rugged gadget, the smartphone is unsurprisingly quite thick for its size. The display packs a resolution of 540 x 1172, allowing for an impressive pixel density of 322. The display also features a 120 Hz refresh rate, which is always welcome.
Considering the tiny amount of real estate, however, the F116 Pro rugged smartphone is unlikely to be a decent gaming device despite its impressive display.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC powers the smartphone, which is an entry-level chip boasting an 8-core setup for decent multicore performance. While far from a true powerhouse, the smartphone should be capable enough to handle almost every day-to-day workload. 12 GB RAM and up to 256 GB storage are also on offer.

At the rear, a 50 MP primary camera is present. However, the main star of the show is the 48 MP ultra-wide camera with a 152.6° field-of-view, as well as hardware image stabilization. A dedicated camera button is present for quick access. Selfie enthusiasts are also taken care of, courtesy of a 32 MP front-facing camera. The smartphone can also be mounted on a tripod pretty easily, thanks to its built-in mount.
Being a rugged smartphone, the F116 Pro is IP68, IP69K, as well as MIL-STD-810 certified, and can handle up to 1.5-meter drops. Other notable features include a 3,700 mAh battery with 33-watt charging and 10-watt reverse charging, dual SIM slots, fingerprint scanner, as well as WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
The Fossibot F116 Pro rugged smartphone is scheduled to enter its crowdfunding phase on 17th March, with deliveries commencing from the 25th of April, 2026. The smartphone is priced at $499, with a Kickstarter-special price tag of $339. Moreover, the first 1,000 super-early birds will be able to purchase the device at just $279 on the 17th.
That said, folks who prefer rugged smartphones but do not require a compact form factor can check out the Fossibot F113, currently available for $360 on Amazon.
