Colorful shows off AMD-powered gaming laptop with up to 128 GB RAM and Radeon 8060S iGPU

Alongside the new Lingchuang Mini Pro mini PC, Colorful also showed off a Strix Halo-equipped laptop at the recent AMD event in China, dubbed the Lingchuang K16. The product was unveiled a few months ago and is already available for purchase from the company's official JD.com store. However, a global launch is not in sight for now. 

The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU is quite a beastly chip, featuring a total of 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads. This should allow the laptop to perform at the same level of an Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX CPU, at least in synthetic multi-threaded benchmarks.

The APU also comes equipped with up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, which is shared by its Radeon 8060S iGPU as well. Speaking of its iGPU, the Radeon 8060S features a 40CU setup based on the RDNA 3.5+ architecture and performs roughly at the same level as an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU in gaming and other workloads. 

Moreover, the healthy amount of VRAM on tap should also allow the laptop to run local LLMs that are on the larger side. 

Of course, the actual tokens-per-second value will be on the lower side, given that the Radeon 8060S iGPU is still an integrated part and only good enough to match a last-gen mid-range laptop GPU in raw performance, as mentioned earlier. 

The laptop also features a 2560 x 1600 IPS display with a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a claimed 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. Brightness peaks out at a claimed 500 nits.

As of now, the K16 gaming laptop is available for purchase on JD.com for a price of 34,999 yuan, which is roughly $5,217. This specific variant comes equipped with 128 GB of RAM as well as a 2 TB SSD.

Folks with slightly smaller pockets who do not require such massive amounts of unified memory can opt for something like the Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 laptop (currently $1,899 on Amazon), equipped with the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and 32 GB of RAM.
