Capcom has announced a new Monster Hunter game in collaboration with the TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent. With Monster Hunter Riders, the company had already attempted to bring the essence of the popular open-world survival game to mobile devices in 2020, but had to discontinue the game in June 2022. Monster Hunter Outlanders is set to be bigger and more authentic.
The official announcement trailer shows Monster Hunter's typically diverse landscapes in magnificent visuals - jungles, deserts and mountains. The trailer’s second half showcases gameplay footage, featuring a variety of movement options but without any interface or combat scenes.
In Monster Hunter Outlanders you will be able to glide, swim, climb or swing around with a grappling hook. The familiar crafting and companion system from the main Monster Hunter titles on console and PC is also included. We've even spotted an Anjanath, hinting that this popular monster will likely be huntable on mobile devices in the future.
Several beta tests planned, newsletter registration possible
It is not yet known when Capcom and TiMi plan to release Monster Hunter Outlanders. However, the developers are planning to carry out several beta tests. If you are interested, you can register on the official website for more information.
Mixed mood in the community
Visually, the first trailer has been well received by Monster Hunter fans on Reddit. However, many users are also expressing concerns about possible microtransactions and the technical implementation on mobile devices.
