Canon recently revealed the PowerShot V1, a new compact camera with a sizeable 1.4-inch sensor, but only released it in certain Asian markets. Since the PowerShot V1's launch, it has proven to be quite popular in online discussions, but there has been no confirmation of an international launch thus far. Now, a new leak out of Canon Rumors claims that the PowerShot V1 will be launched to international markets, like the US and Europe, on March 26.
Furthermore, the leak points to the PowerShot V1 accompanying video-centric refreshes of both the Canon EOS RP (curr. $799 on Amazon), Canon's entry-level full-frame camera, and the Canon EOS R50, an entry-level APS-C camera designed for migrating smartphone users. The new cameras ostensibly launching alongside the Canon PowerShot V1 will be called the EOS R V and EOS R50 V, indicating that they will both feature optimisations for video. Supposedly, these video features will include active cooling for the EOS RV, much like the fan featured in the PowerShot V1.
This seems somewhat counterintuitive, since Canon already markets the EOS R50 as an entry-level content creation camera, even selling the camera as part of an $849 Video Creator kit. Supposedly, the Canon PowerShot V1 will launch internationally at roughly the same ~$900 price as it sells for in Asian markets. As for the two new EOS cameras, there are no clear indications on pricing, but Canon Rumors has speculated that the EOS R50 V will launch at around $650, while the Canon EOS RV will cost around $1,000.
