Canon's new EOS R50 V mirrorless camera is designed for social media creators, featuring dual record buttons and tripod mounts, wireless livestreaming, and high-quality 4K video capabilities for publishing updates in portrait and landscape orientations.

Canon has launched the EOS R50 V mirrorless camera with features designed for social media creators.

Dual record buttons, dual tripod mounts, auto-rotating screen menus, and red tally lights allow creators to easily livestream over 802.11ac Wi-Fi connections. Multiple Canon R50 V cameras can be used with the Live Switcher Mobile smartphone app for multicamera productions. The camera can also be connected to PCs as a webcam for video calls and in-game livestreaming using OBS Studio.

The mode dial on top has specific modes for typical filming scenarios, including a product close-up demo mode, smooth skin mode, and stabilization mode for on-the-go vlogging. The 3-inch LCD screen can flip open 180-degrees and rotate for selfies.

The camera is capable of recording full-frame 4K 30p videos downsampled from 6K and cropped-frame 4K 60p videos in HDR 4:2:2 10-bit H.265 format. Continuous record times are limited to two hours per clip at 59.94 fps or less, or one hour at higher frame rates. Stereo microphones with active autofocus and white noise cancellation capture audio in 24-bit 48 kHz AAC format.

The 24.2 MP sensor is capable of recording dual RAW+compressed images at 15 shots per second. Photographs can be uploaded directly to the image.canon website for sorting, downloading, printing, and sharing through social media and messaging apps. The camera has a 1/8000th second maximum shutter speed, 1/250th second flash sync speed, ISO range of 100 to 51,200, and EV range of -5 to 20 (-2.5 to 20 while filming).

The camera measures 4.7 x 2.9 x 1.8 in. (119.3 x 73.7 x 45.2 mm) and weighs 0.82 lbs. (370 g) with battery and card.

The Canon EOS R50 V has an MSRP of $649.99 / 113,300 yen for the body only and an MSRP of $849.99 / 140,800 yen with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ kit lens. The camera is available now from Canon.com and will be available soon from the Canon store on Amazon.
