Canon has announced the EOS R8 Mark II as the company’s lightest full‑frame EOS camera equipped with In‑Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) for photographers and creators who want both portability and high image quality.
Photography
The R8 Mark II features a 24.2‑megapixel CMOS sensor with 6-micron-square pixels capable of shooting at 40 fps for up to 190 shots (JPG) or 73 shots (RAW) across its full sensitivity range of ISO 50 to 204,800. The camera also has continuous pre-capture of the last 20 frames before shooting starts, with all photos recorded to a single SD card. It uses an electronic shutter that can be set from 1/16,000 to 30 seconds, in addition to Bulb mode.
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system provides continuous autofocus with 100% frame coverage, 1,053 AF zones, and working range of EV -7.5 to 21. The system leverages AI subject detection of animals, people, and vehicles and can prioritize focus on specific body parts such as the eyes. Up to ten faces can be registered with the camera to prioritize focus on them ahead of any other subject.
During low-light photography, the In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) system can provide up to 7.5 stops of shake correction for sharp images.

Video Capabilities
Videographers can capture oversampled 4K60p footage to 4:2:2 10-bit H.265/HEVC files at 225 Mbps using Canon Log 3 to record up to 14 stops of dynamic range. The ISO can be set between ISO 100 and 102,400 when using Log 3 mode. The camera can also capture Full HD 180p footage to support slow-motion work. Shutter speed can be set from 1/8,000 to 1/8 seconds in video mode. A micro HDMI jack and 3.5 mm stereo microphone input can be used to connect external monitors and microphones.
Image stabilization and AI autofocus remain available when filming, with an AF working range of EV -5.5 to 21. For showcasing products, the camera can be set to automatic video exposure with zone autofocusing to keep products focused and well-exposed. The EOS is also capable of filming timelapses in-camera.
The camera includes a 0.39-inch (1 cm), 2.36‑million‑dot OLED EVF and a 3-inch (7.5 cm), 1.62-million-dot vari‑angle LCD touchscreen for framing scenes and reviewing footage.

Connectivity
The camera supports 802.11ax Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C connections for data transfer, live streaming, and remote camera control from computers and smartphones.
Measurements
The EOS R8 Mark II weighs 546 g (19.26 oz.) with its battery and a card. It measures 131.4 × 90.0 × 79.7 mm (5.17 × 3.54 × 3.14 in.).
