Canon has unveiled the EOS R6 Mark III mirrorless full-frame digital camera for videographers and photographers demanding excellent image quality.
The R6 Mark III sensor utilizes Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus that can focus as low as EV -6.5 when taking 32.5 MP photos at up to 40 fps and EV -4 when filming videos at up to 7K60p. The sensor supports RAW video output in 7K 17:9 widescreen or 7K 3:2 open-gate aspect ratios. Sound is recorded on stereo microphones outputting 24-bit, 48 kHz audio.
High-quality videos are stored in 12-bit Canon RAW Light Movie format to a CFexpress Type B card or a UHS-II V90 SD card. Canon Log 2/3 can be used to enable 15+ stops of exposure latitude in saved videos, while AI neural image processing helps improve captured photo quality, according to Canon. Images can be viewed in the 0.5-inch, 3.96-million-dot OLED viewfinder or the 3.0-inch, 1.62-million-dot swiveling LCD monitor.
The camera has an ISO range of 50 to 102,400 in photo mode and 100 to 102,400 in video mode. Its mechanical shutter has a maximum mechanical speed of 1/8,000 second and a maximum electronic speed of 1/16,000 second. In-body image stabilization provides up to 7.5+ stops of shake correction while the AF system utilizes AI-powered people, pet, and car detection for stable tracking with fast-moving subjects, according to the company.
A special stop-motion version uses a higher Live View resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 with stop motion animation software, like Dragonframe, with animation specific features, such as Focus Position Memory and Aperture Lock.
The standard Canon R6 Mark III mirrorless camera has an MSRP of $2,799 and the stop-motion model has an MSRP of $2,899. It is expected to launch November 21, 2025, in Japan and November 25 in the US. Readers can look for it to arrive in the Canon store on Amazon US.
