Canon's new power zoom is a first for full-frame RF lenses - and it ships with the new R6 V camera

Canon has now officially announced the EOS R6 V, shortly after some info regarding the same leaked yesterday. It is the first full-frame camera in the company's creator-focused V series lineup, and it is launching in late June 2026 alongside a new power zoom lens, the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ.
The R6 V is built around a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor alongside the DIGIC X processor. On the video side, it supports 4K60P via oversampling, uncropped 4K120P high frame rate recording, and 7K Open Gate recording in both RAW and MP4 - the latter capturing the full 3:2 sensor area for maximum framing flexibility in post. Canon Log 2 brings dynamic range up to 15+ stops under optimal conditions.
The body design is unlike any traditional Canon mirrorless form factors - it's flat and straight-edged to work cleanly with cages and gimbals, and includes a vertical tripod mount with an auto-rotating UI for upright shooting. A built-in cooling fan is present for longer recording sessions - this should address one of the bigger frustrations in the hybrid camera segment.
The accompanying RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ lens is noteworthy on its own - it's the first full-frame RF lens to feature power zoom, operable via a single ring that switches between motorized and manual control. The focal length stays fixed at constant f/4 with a non-extending barrel.
The EOS R6 V body is priced at $2,499, with a kit including the RF20-50mm PZ going for $3,699.
