The 2024 action video game, Black Myth: Wukong, is receiving a new update, according to information from the developers. While the update will be available on all platforms, it will be particularly large for PS5 owners.
The update, which will begin rolling out gradually starting today, will bring fixes and optimizations to the award-winning video game. According to a post on X by the official Black Myth account, the update will require a massive 93.5GB of space on the PlayStation 5. The large size is attributed to differences in file storage methods.
Considering the large size of several games these days, there might be owners of the PS5 (available on Amazon for $499) who don't have enough space for the update. These users are advised to either continue playing the current version of the game or they can uninstall it and then redownload the latest version, which is version 1.0.20.21756.
The post also recommends (PC) users who have installed mods to uninstall them and verify the integrity of the game before restarting it. Not doing this after the update may cause compatibility issues that prevent the game from launching, loading saved games, or triggering errors while playing.
In addition, the announcement also reveals that the update may also require shader recompilation. Users who experience crashes during shader recompilation are advised to restart the game until the compilation is complete or skip shader compilation. The changelog for the update can be viewed on Game Science's website.
