Deal | Sony slashes PS5 prices in new limited-time deal
If you’ve been holding out for a great deal on the PlayStation 5, now’s the perfect time to pull the trigger. Sony has discounted the PS5 Slim and PS5 Slim Digital Edition by $125, marking the first major price cut since it raised console prices back in August. The offer is live through PlayStation Direct, and buyers can claim the discount using the code PS5KLARNA at checkout.
With this deal, the PS5 Slim (1 TB) drops from $549.99 to $424.99, while the PS5 Slim Digital Edition (825 GB) becomes even more affordable at $374. As noted by deal tracker Wario64 on X, buyers don’t need to use the Klarna payment service to get the discount. However, the code only applies to the PS5 Slim and PS5 Slim Digital Edition, not the PS5 Pro or PlayStation 5 bundles. That said, the promotion runs through October 31 and is limited to one per account.
Despite the recent price hikes, Sony has enjoyed a surprisingly strong run, with PS5 sales rising 10% in September compared to August. To recap, the company raised prices for all PS5 models in the US by $50, citing a "challenging economic environment." The PS5 Slim jumped from $499.99 to $549.99, while the Digital Edition went from $449.99 to $499.99. This latest deal not only offsets those increases but also leaves enough money in your pocket to reinvest in an extra controller or a new title.
With Black Friday around the corner, even more PS5 discounts are likely to appear from third-party retailers. Costco, for instance, has already confirmed it will knock $120 off the PS5 Slim with an extra DualSense controller bundle starting November 21. Until then, buyers can grab the PS5 Slim and PS5 Slim Digital Edition directly from Sony at their lowest prices since the recent tariff-related hikes.
