Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella has taken to Twitter again to report on Apex Legends’ latest milestone. The battle royale game, which is set in the Titanfall universe, has now been tried out by over 50 million people worldwide – in its first month since launching. The title is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

It’s been an interesting week for Electronic Arts already. On the down side, Anthem seems to be crashing hard (or actually hard crashing in this particular case), while on the up side Apex Legends is soaring higher and higher. Respawn CEO Vince Zampella has been sharing the latest all-important statistics about the battle royale title on Twitter: 50 million players in the first month.

Obviously, it seems necessary to make a comparison with Fortnite every time Apex Legends hits a particular mark. In this case, it took Epic’s property four months to attract 50 million players, so Apex Legends is certainly streaking ahead in this regard. The Respawn title has also been on the receiving end of a warm to hot reception from gamers and critics alike.

Although the game is free to play, there are elements in Apex Legends that can be acquired through real-world spending. For example, two of the heroes, Caustic and Mirage, can be unlocked by either amassing sufficient experience points or by utilizing game credit (by purchasing Apex Coins).
